Reykjavik, Iceland – Iceland’s parliament voted to classify all religions as weapons of mass destruction. Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism are now in the same category as nuclear weapons, mustard gas, and weaponized biological agents.

Weapons of mass destruction by definition are weapons with the capacity to inflict death and destruction on such a massive scale and so indiscriminately that its very presence in the hands of a hostile power can be considered a grievous threat. Looking at the Crusades, the wars of jihadist conquest, or how evangelical climate denying oligarchs in America are destroying the planet, one realizes faith is fatal on a mass scale.

While many religious groups are up in arms regarding Iceland’s move, the North Atlantic country reassures the faithful their right to practice the faith of their fathers will not be impinged on. Mr. Kanard refers to the measure as a sort of public health warning. “We passed a similar measure regarding Christianity a little while ago,” he stated. “We in parliament felt it necessary to let people know all religion is a mental disorder and a dangerous one at that.”

Iceland is also recommending those who are in a codependent relationship with religion to seek out a local chapter of Religion Anonymous (RA).

Mais de 3000 mil islandeses, cerca de 1% da população, em protesto contra o facto de terem de sustentar com os seus impostos as religiões, nas últimas duas semanas juntaram-se à religião zoísta (antiga religião praticada na Suméria) que promete a devolução da taxa paga.  Ahahah Onde se prova que para um crente, no que respeita a adorar a Deus, a melhor religião é a gratuita...

Os islandeses são obrigados a dizer ao Estado qual é a sua religião - a igreja Luterana é a religião de Estado e a constituição obriga a que seja sustentada por ele- e quem declara não ter religião paga impostos mais altos. Têm tentado acabar com esta situação sem êxito. Então inscreveram a religião zoísta da antiga Suméria como uma das religiões e esta tem como objectivo, entre outros, acabar com os privilégios das religiões sobre outras instituições não religiosas. O Estado diz que isso não é uma verdadeira religião mas a questão é: o que é uma 'verdadeira' religião? :)) Uma instituição organizada que manipula milhões? Caso interesantíssimo...

Quero ir à Islândia para vir carregada de luz e de inspiração que dê para um ano ou dois. Se todas as pessoas viajassem a sítios destes, assim duma paz tão bela, umas três vezes por ano, talvez não houvesse guerras...

The historical archipelago Svefneyjar (“Sleepy Islands”) on Breiðafjörður fjord in west Iceland has been advertised for sale at the real agency company Torg. The islands have been in the ownership of two families over the past 18 years.

Acquisition offers have been called for; the islands are estimated to be worth ISK 150-195 million (USD 1.2-1.6 million, EUR 1-1.2 million), according to realtor Sigurbjörn Friðriksson who is responsible for the sale, Morgunblaðið reports.

Svefneyjar number approximately 60 with a combined land area of approximately 0.4 square kilometers.

The archipelago is the birthplace of poet and natural scientist Eggert Ólafsson and served as home to the district assembly of Reykhólahreppur until the end of the 19th century when it was relocated to Flatey.

Considerable benefits come with owning the land. It is a nesting ground for eider ducks (eider down is a valuable export product), and egg collecting, bird and seal hunting has been practiced there, as stated on nat.is.

Also, Svefneyjar locals became the first in Iceland to harvest seaweed when the seaweed processing plant Thorverk in Reykhólar was established in 1986.

Svefneyjar have been for sale since November 2011.
