Do livro do Dürer

Grandes metáforas da vida

Van Gogh - Bridge in the rain, after Hiroshige (1887)

Bridge In The Rain after Van Gogh after Hiroshige by Ginette Callaway (2014)

Sudden Shower Over Shin-Ohashi Bridge

The voice of the thunder god
rolls from roiling clouds, ripening
plum to damson.

Hats and parasols are drenched, bare flesh
stung by rain that falls so hard
each drop seems an admonishment.

But look past huddled shapes
bowed and scattering
at the blue-grey

of the wide river Sumida’s rippled skin
to where a boatman
poles his log raft

downstream: as if the storm
isn’t happening: as if he knows
this visitation won’t last long,

neither waiting for its passing
nor hurrying: back bent,
arms outstretched, moving on.

1. Never compare your weaknesses to other people's strengths.

2. Own your life, or someone will own it for you.

3.  We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.

4. Climb mountains not so the world can see you but so you can see the world.

5. If you accept your limitation, you go beyond them.

6. Comfort is the enemy of achievement.

7. If you risk nothing, you risk everything.

8. Victory introduces you to the world, but defeat introduces the world to you.

9. If you don't do stupid things while you are young, you will have nothing to smile about when you are old.

10.
The person that you will spend most time with in your life is yourself, so better try to make yourself as interesting as possible.

A significant portion of women in society, faced with the incompetence of the political system in Iran in attending their demands, have broken away with internal geographic boundaries, and moved towards global trends, regarding themselves as global citizens instead. These efforts enunciate a loud and clear “NO” to Iran’s current dominant system, and My Stealthy Freedom’s page is representative of this major trend of demand for freedom and equality.

gertrude bell (www.gerty.ncl.ac.uk/)

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate;

I am the captain of my soul.

Alimento-me de algumas pessoas

na busca de inspiração.

Não é por aquilo que dizem

nem tampouco pelo que fazem

é somente aquilo que são:

perfeitas nas suas faces

de inteira contradição

aceitam com naturalidade

os defeitos da construção.

As máscaras de vitalidade

que forjam para protecção

são prova da humanidade

que espelham no coração.
